YOUR SOLIDARITY CAN CHANGE LIVES
At the Pere Tarrés Foundation, we work to reduce socio-educational inequalities among children and young people in vulnerable situations to achieve a positive impact on their lives and on society and to stop poverty becoming chronic.
To continue to expand and multiply our solidarity action and to reach all children and young people in need, your solidarity is essential. We guarantee that it will be translated into opportunities for children.
Education, action, transformation and generating continuous change are still what we are all about more than 68 years after beginning our work. This is our motivation for supporting children and young people in all dimensions of their growth and, with all their rights and abilities, in becoming part of today’s society.
At the Network of Socio-educational Centres, every afternoon after school, we give children a snack, help them brush their teeth, see that they do their homework together, take part in sports and play for a while until 7:30pm. If these children did not come to the centre, they would be alone at home (those who have one), sometimes looking after younger siblings, sharing a room with people outside the family or glued to a screen.
With our job placement flats, we provide accommodation and food for young migrants between 16 and 21 years of age who arrive alone in Catalonia. With teams of educators, we help them to improve their educational, social, emotional, and work-related skills to help with their inclusion in society. Currently, we have four flats in Mataró, Vilassar and Sabadell which have provided accommodation for 32 young people in 2024.
With our grants for summer camps and clubs, we promote educational leisure activities in the open air, with a healthy diet, sports, contact with nature, fun and positive references for children and young people in vulnerable situations, so that they can grow, learn, enjoy and develop as people.

Charitable inheritances and legacies are two growing patronage options that bring emotional benefits to those who make a commitment to them, while perpetuating the intentions or causes through which you have shown solidarity during your lifetime.
In recent times, more and more people are leaving all or part of their inheritance to non-profit organisation, according to data from the Association of Notaries of Catalonia.
In a will made before a notary, the testator determines how and in what proportions they want their estate to be distributed after their death.
A legacy is the act by which a person, in their will, decides to distribute a very specific part of their assets to another person or entity. It is therefore sufficient that all or part of the legacy goes to one or more organisations, associations, foundations, NGOs, or religious orders that have a non-profit social function.
It is not always people without direct heirs who leave everything to such an organisation; there are also those who decide to share out their assets. Thus, the same will can provide for both types of legacies: one to be received by relatives or other people chosen by the deceased and one to be given to charitable organisations.
This is the declaration by which a person disposes of their property in favour of one or more heirs and may also establish legacies and other provisions for after their death. It usually establishes:
By making a will, you make the formalities easier for your relatives and perpetuate the intentions or causes through which you have shown solidarity during your lifetime.
The inheritance is the whole set of properties, rights, and obligations that the heirs receive (in the first place, the children or descendants and, if there are none, the parents or ascendants; depending on which legislation – common law or specific regional law – applies, a widowed spouse is attributed certain rights) when a person has died (the legitimate share). Meanwhile, a legacy is a part of that inheritance. In this case, the beneficiary is not liable with his or her estate for the testator’s obligations (including debts).
It can be a specific amount of money, tangible assets (real estate, land, jewellery, works of art), financial securities (shares, investment funds, stocks) or a percentage of the bequeathed wealth, among other things.
A will can be changed at any time. The most recent will made will be legally binding.
Non-profit organisations are covered by the tax exemptions set out in Act 49/2002, which means that we are exempt from paying inheritance tax and corporation tax as set out in that law.
