At the Pere Tarrés Foundation, we have been working for a more sustainable planet and leisure that respects the natural environment for more than 60 years.

Awareness for the environment inspires the principles on which our strategy and management are based. For this reason, we not only develop our activity while maintaining coherence in the use of resources and environmental sustainability, but we also actively work to raise environmental awareness among children, adolescents and young people through educational and training activities and informative materials.

Citizen commitment to sustainability

The Pere Tarrés Foundation is a member of the Barcelona Citizen commitment to sustainability . This membership implies integration into Barcelona+Sustainable, a network of organizations committed to environmental, social and economic sustainability that collectively build a responsible city with people and the environment. This adherence is reflected in the development of an action plan which includes the commitments made to the local administration in this area.

Implementation of good environmental practices

We are progressing toward the proper separation of wastes, especially more hazardous items like electric and electronic waste, oils used in kitchens, light bulbs and special packages. Special attention is also being paid to the use of recycled paper, reducing plastic bottles through the installation of fountains...

Contribution to the SDGs

With the desire to improve our world, the Pere Tarrés Foundation feels challenged to commit to the 17 sustainable development goals, approved by he United Nations General Assembly, to improve our world before the year 2030. Specifically, 826 educational and social activities of our entity affect these objectives.

Improvements in the efficiency of our facilities

In more than 90% of the facilities, the Pere Tarrés Foundation has contracted electrical energy of 100% renewable origin. We continue to promote digital control tools for energy consumption to apply action programs for its reduction. In June 2022, the renewal audit of the certification of the environmental management system implemented at the head office on Carrer Numància and at the Training and Consulting center on Carrer Carolines, both located in the city of Barcelona, was carried out. in accordance with ISO 14001:2015. The certifying company was TÜV Rheinland Ibérica.

Certification of an environmental management system

In order to prevent pollution, reduce the environmental impact and promote sustainability, we have the certification of the environmental management system implemented at the head office on Carrer de Numancia and at the training and consulting center on Carrer de Carolines, both locations in the city of Barcelona, in accordance with the ISO 14001:2015 standard. The certifying company is TÜV Rheinland Ibérica.

Environmental education

The Pere Tarrés Foundation was a pioneer more than 30 years ago with the creation of its nature houses and its environmental education program, to raise awareness of the importance and need to know, respect and conserve the environment in which we live. Past year, 14,921 children, adolescents and young people from many schools participated in its environmental education programs.

Informative materials

With the aim of raising awareness and deepening ecological awareness in society, the Foundation produces articles, video capsules, publications and other materials such as educational sheets that propose activities linked to the various sustainable development goals. The materials are designed to be useful for carrying out, developing and managing the educational activity of families, school teaching teams and educators, leisure center counsellors and socio-educational centers.
