Origin of the campaign

The Transforma Their Summer campaign, one of the Foundation's oldest initiatives, was born out of the desire to ensure that children in vulnerable situations can also experience summer as a space for opportunities, educational leisure, and well-being. Year after year, at the Pere Tarrés Foundation we launch this solidarity campaign to fund summer camps and day camps, with the aim of making it possible for children who otherwise could not afford them to participate in activities during July and August.

Impact

The campaign has a direct impact on the lives of children and their families. Thanks to the scholarships, boys and girls can enjoy healthy meals, educational activities, enriching experiences, and positive role models in a safe, natural environment. At the same time, this support eases the situation of many households living in very fragile economic contexts: 46.9% of the families who apply for a scholarship are in severe poverty, 45.4% of the families who receive aid are single-mother or single-father households, and 2 out of 3 scholarship-recipient families are below the poverty line.

Methodology

The campaign's methodology is based on a scholarship program that facilitates children's access to summer camps and social day camps. The campaign offers different levels of support, allowing collaboration to be tailored to real needs: €132 covers a week at a day camp, €460 a week at a summer camp, and €660 a month at a day camp. In addition to financial contributions, the campaign also accepts in-kind donations from companies, such as sunscreen, toothbrushes and toothpaste, lice shampoo, first-aid kits, play equipment, craft supplies, food, or bus transportation services.

Result

The result of the campaign translates into real opportunities for children to have an educational, safe summer full of positive experiences. The testimonies collected by the campaign show the emotional and social impact of this support: children who highlight the opportunity to make friends, play, and step outside their usual environment, and families who are deeply grateful that their sons and daughters have been able to enjoy a summer camp or school camp they will always remember. The campaign, therefore, not only meets an economic need but transforms the summer into an experience of growth, inclusion, and well-being.

  • For the summer of 2025, we have been able to award 7,146 scholarships to enjoy summer camps and colonies.
