Social and educational centers: education and spaces that transform lives

Socioeducational centers are educational spaces that work every day so that all children and young people in situations of social vulnerability can grow up with real opportunities for the future. 

Through educational, emotional, and family support, our centers help children and adolescents develop their abilities and build a fulfilling life plan. 

The centers are part of the Network of Socio-Educational Centers (XaCS), a network we promote that brings together projects working with a single mission: to improve the situation of children and adolescents in social vulnerability. At our centers, we provide academic support, recreational activities that foster self-esteem and social skills, emotional support, and more, with an educational team that also supports the families. This comprehensive work helps children regain confidence, improve their academic performance, and imagine a future with more opportunities. Currently, the network's centers are present in various municipalities and neighborhoods and reach thousands of children and young people, offering them educational and emotional support throughout the year and also during the summer.

In socio-educational centers, children find much more than a place to do their homework; they find a safe place to grow, learn, and feel supported. Some of the tools we use to achieve this are:

Tutoring and educational support,

to improve academic results and prevent school failure or dropout.

Educational leisure activities,

that develop social, emotional, and relational skills through play.

Psychological support and emotional support,

especially for children with learning or mental health difficulties.

Working with families,

to reinforce positive parenting and improve family life together.

In Catalonia, one in three children lives in households with incomes below the poverty threshold, and a significant proportion of adolescents drop out of school prematurely. 

Socioeducational centers are precisely created to address this reality, and that is why our solidarity work puts these centers at the center: every educational opportunity we create today changes a child's future.

To implement these pillars and focus on educational equity, we have developed a series of projects to make it possible and achievable. Thanks to all the people, organizations, and companies who actively participate in these projects, we can act at the crucial moment in their development: because when a child receives the support they need at the right time, they not only improve their present but also change their future.
