Grants for summer camps and play schemes

Situations of poverty and social vulnerability make it difficult for children to access activities that provide education through leisure. To ensure equality of opportunity, the Pere Tarrés Foundation makes grants to thousands of children in vulnerable situations so that they also have the chance to go to summer camps and play schemes.

SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN: NO CHILD WITHOUT SUMMER CAMP

Every summer, we run a campaign to raise awareness and funds to allow thousands of children at risk of social exclusion to go to summer camp or play schemes. It is crucial for their growth and physical and emotional well-being to take part in these activities providing education through leisure.

The living conditions of the beneficiary families of the 2021 summer activity scholarships

The successive economic and health crises that we are experiencing have further aggravated the needs of families and are drawing a new profile for families that request scholarships for the summer activities of the Pere Tarrés Foundation. This is stated in the report "No child without summer camps 2021: study on the living conditions of the beneficiary families of the summer scholarships".

CONSULT THE REPORT

THANKS to donations and to support from society, we make it possible for more than 5,000 boys and girls in vulnerable situations to receive grants and to have the chance to discover new environments, do activities in natural surroundings, acquire healthy habits, make new friends and be served their main meals every day.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT

“What we like best is making new friends, taking part in the night games and swimming in the pool. The holiday centre workers are very friendly. We go on these trips every year, as much as we can!”

Karam and Rayan, aged 13

“Summer trips away are particularly necessary: they can get out of town, somewhere that’s not urban, allowing them to have contact with nature in a completely different situation. Often, staying at home for a long time means lack of stimulation, new technology addiction or new family dynamics that are not always positive”

Víctor Vílchez, coordinator of the Pere Tarrés Foundation’s Poblenou Socioeducational Centre in 2020

“Jan and Nil have had a fantastic time. To start with they weren’t entirely convinced about going on the trip but they’ve ended up saying they’d have liked to stay a couple of days more. We’d like to give you our heartfelt thanks, because without this initiative of yours my children wouldn’t have been able to have this experience. For us, that’s priceless!”

Maica, mother of two children with grants

“When our children can go to a summer play scheme, their parents get a rest and some peace and quiet. In the case of Roger, a very restless boy, imagine the peace of mind of knowing he can go somewhere where he’ll be stimulated and where he can do and share creative activities, all within his level of capabilities. Thank you very much, Pere Tarrés Foundation, for all your efforts”
