Routes and itineraries

The Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, national park of the high Pyrenees, offers a singular landscape of high mountains where water is the main attraction, with more than 200 ponds, numerous streams, torrents and waterfalls that fill each corner of the park with the relaxing sound of water.

The perfect place for excursions to the lake of Sant Maurici, including the Encantats peak, the Llong lake, the Amitges needles, the Portarró d’Espot, the Mata de Valencia, the Peguera valley or the Mainera lakes, a place of peace and tranquillity at the top of the Àssua valley.

Port Ainé and Espot ski resort, where you can go skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing or enjoy the snow in the playground.

Guingueta d’Àneu Lake, where you can do activities such as kayaking, canoeing, paddle surfing, among others. Rafting, canoeing, hydrospeed and canyoning in the Noguera Pallaresa River.

Other places of interest are the Museum of Catalan Butterflies, located in La Ribera de Cardós, where you can see the largest butterfly in the world. The sample includes a specimen that is unique in the world, discovered in Andorra in 1994, and a butterfly that is male on its left side and female on the right.

The Vall d’Àssua Shepherd’s Museum, after a brief introduction to the valleys features, its shepherds and sheep, gives an in-depth explanation of the different tasks carried out by the shepherds. It makes us remember the way shepherds used to work and live years ago.

Tros de Sort is an artisan dairy, founded in 1995, with the quality and authentic flavour of the Pyrenees at its core. You can find a wide range of home-made cheeses.

The fish farm of Tavascan, where you can fish for trout. It farms trout from the Pyrenees and produces products such as smoked trout and Tavascan trout caviar. You can also visit traditional high mountain villages such as Esterri d’Àneu, Llavorsí, Tírvia, Tornafort, Peramea, Llessui, Gerri de la Sal, Àreu, Burg, Espot or Esterri de Cardós.
