We close September with an eclectic and powerful selection of concerts

From the most extreme death metal to folk, jazz divas and eighties legends... We close September with an eclectic and powerful selection of concerts.

Eclectic and powerful selection of concerts

We start very strong. The most brutal and extreme death metal tour comes from the masters and legends Nile and Suffocation. Mythical and iconic bands, essential for any fan to the best executed metal you can imagine. The parents of a generation come in a tour that promises to be great. Nile, active for more than 20 years, released their latest album At The Gate Of Sethu last year. And they come with the no less known Suffocation. Their EP Human Waste (1991) is considered by many the birth of extreme metal, the most important disc of this kind. This time they present Pinnacle of Bedlam (2015), his highly anticipated new album. 19/09. Razzmatazz. Almogàvers 122, Barcelona. 20:00h. 30€

How we like the eighties! And the musical legends that staged it. With only 21 years, Rick Astley released its debut single, Never gonna give you up (1985) that catapulted him to world pop star. His first album, released in 1988, sold 15.2 million copies worldwide, making it the British artist with more discs sold that year. Today, he retains the memory of being the only male solo artist who has placed his first 8 singles in the Top Ten in the UK, and with this curriculum and his deep voice, the redheaded hero returns to Barcelona in top form. 10 year without publishing any disc, but we forgive him. 25/09. Sala Apolo. Nou de la Rambla 113, Barcelona. 20:00h. 20€

The first round of the 47 Voll-Damm International Jazz Festival of Barcelona will have the great Diana Krall and the sensuality of a voice with nearly three decades making the public and critics fall in love. Since her debut in Barcelona in 1996, Krall has been growing and growing. Winner of five Grammy awards and eight Juno, she introduced last February her new album, Wallflower (2015), produced by David Foster, winner of 16 Grammy. Yes, 16. In this occasion she presents pop hits of all time (from 60s classics to current songs) under a sophisticated production. Diana Krall's voice and piano will be joined on stage by the band of Anthony Wilson (guitar), which also includes Dennis Crouch (bass), Stuart Duncan (fiddle), Karriem Riggins (drums) and Patrick Warren (keyboards). We will enjoy. 26/09. Auditori del Fòrum, Llevant 2-4, Barcelona. 21:00h. 46€

And we do not move from the Auditorium of the Forum to enjoy the live of what is already a cult artist. Sufjan Stevens returns to Barcelona after his remembered concert at Primavera Sound 2011 to present Carrie & Lowell (2015), his return after The Age of Adz (2010). An album that brings us back to the more classic Sufjan with a beautiful work full of naked folk that is at the same time an autobiographical journey of solitude, faith, depression, suicide and dysfunctional relationships. Detroit style. Carrie & Lowell brings us back to the Sufjan of Seven Swans (2004) after a journey that has taken him to the orchestral arrangements of Illinois (2005) or the electronic of The Age of Adz in a way of experimentation and research that seems to close a cycle. The electronic pop of Canadians Austra will be the opening act. 29/09. Auditori del Fòrum, Llevant 2-4, Barcelona. 21:00h. 46€
