It is the quintessential bread in Barcelona with which is made the most typical Catalan dish, pa amb tomàquet (bread with tomato). The pa de pagès (crusty bread) is a variant of rustic bread typical of rural towns and the tradition in Catalonia is to cut it slices, spread it with tomato, add a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt. This is another traditional Catalan dish you can not miss if you go to Barcelona. Its preparation is very simple and it has an awesome flavor. They are a byproduct of the onion, coked grilled and you must eat them with romesco sauce.
It is the typical Barcelona salad and it is made with onions, tomatoes, peppers and roasted eggplant. Usually served on a slice of toasted crusty bread and with filleted anchovies.
