June is full of festivals and select concerts

There is life between Primavera Sound and Sonar in Barcelona. In fact, the two quintessential musical events are just the tip of the iceberg of a month full of festivals: June is full of festivals and select concerts.

We start June with authentic sounds. Formed in North Carolina for Dixie Dave Collins in 1998 after the dissolution of Buzzov, WEEDEATER are an essential part of the bands that make up the musical movement Sludge , born in New Orleans in the mid-80s, and that meant a latest twist on the classic metal sound. They are coming to introduce at Razzmatazz, Goliathan (2015), an album that recovers the strength of the beginning ... And Justice For All (2001). 02/06. Razzmatazz, Almogàvers 122, Barcelona. 18€

If you follow us, you know we're big fans of GuitarBCN... Almost all of us have heard “Así es tu Navidad , Oques Grasses song recorded for TV3 and that did not stop for the Christmas holidays. The good feeling that transmits the new revelation group, however, does not surprise to many people who have followed them since its inception. It is live the best way to enjoy their sound, including reggae, pop and rock. For the moment they have published the famous “Un dia no sé com” (2013) and “Digue-n’hi com vulguis” (2014). 04/06. Barts, Paral·lel 62, Barcelona. 21:00h. 15€

One of the great British revelations of recent years have been Kill It Kid. Champions of the style called New British Blues (Blues + grunge + American folk), will present their third studio album, You Owe Nothing (2015). The album includes songs like Carolina , Y'll Be The First, Do not It Feel Good or“Blood Stop Run” which are true pearls of musical miscegenation. The first two works of the Bath band were published on One Little Indian Records, the label of Paul McCartney, but in 2012 the band signed with the label Sire Records (Warner Music), where they released their latest work. 05/06. BeCool, Pl. Joan Llongueras 5, Barcelona. 22:00h. 18€

We stay in the upper area of the city for the Festival Jardins Palau Reial de Pedralbes which opens its second edition with the electronic pop icons Pet Shop Boys. The British duo of singer Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe returns to Barcelona after passing through the Sonar 2013 with a total of 12 published albums, more than 50 million records sold worldwide and numerous awards including Grammy and the Brit Awards. Pet Shop Boys will offer one of the last dates of his celebrated and danceable Electric World Tour , which already has 108 events in 47 countries with many hits, many choreography, dazzling costumes and a great display of visual tour. 08/06. Jardins de Pedralbes, Diagonal 686, Barcelona. 50€-300€.

The Barcelona-June-Festivals connection continues to grow. Be aware of the independent festival LIV-BCN, which comes to Barcelona with concerts and a special exhibition of artists from two cities: Liverpool and Barcelona. In [2] of Apollo, the leader of the legendary electronic band Ladytron Liverpool, Helen Marnie, presents his solo project by first and only time in Spain, also playing the hits of Ladytron seven years after his last visit to Apolo. 13/06.
