The Pere Tarrés Foundation manages 20 nurseries and supports another 23 in different towns in Catalonia. The Foundation manages state nurseries for town councils and institutions, and private nurseries for entities and companies.
Our aims are to favour the suitable development of children by covering their basic needs; to facilitate the process of autonomy and socialisation; and to help them to develop their knowledge and self-awareness skills and awareness of their surroundings.
Educational project
The nurseries managed by the Pere Tarrés Foundation are based on the Spanish educational project.
In order to meet current social demand, the Pere Tarrés Foundation makes sure a proposal with a global, plural and integrating educational view is consolidated, adapted to the social and cultural environment in which each nursery is situated.
The educational project is based on three core elements:
The priority is to make sure the children receive the richest and widest variety of stimuli and opportunities from an early age, to make the most of their brains’ capacity: In order to develop intelligence they need to be surrounded by as many stimuli as possible during the first three years of life.
Nursery Conferences
The Pere Tarrés Foundation organises a conference once a year that gathers teachers from local nurseries and from entities and companies that it manages, in order to share experiences and improve their teaching experience.
Minuts menuts
In October 2007 the Pere Tarrés Foundation, together with the Esplugues Town Council, started up a service to look after children from 4 months to 3 years.
The aim of the programme is to be a place for a break, where families can bring their children for a while if they need to, if they have to run errands or carry out any activities that are not compatible with looking after the child. The project has room for 10 children and includes two nursery specialists who organise different activities.
This programme is a project promoted by the Family Secretariat at the Social Welfare and Family Department in the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and is available to all the town councils or institutions who wish to organise it.
