Library
The
Pere Tarrés Foundation Library specialises in the Social Sciences
and topics related to social and socio-educational work, environmental
education and leisure education in particular. It is a live space full
of resources, tools and means for studying, documenting and formulating
all kinds of social and educational projects for students, teachers and
professionals in the sector. The Library’s origins date back to
the 1970’s, when it was a School of Recreation service which provided
support for teachers and facilitated material in the fields of education
and leisure education. The library underwent a profound change in 1992,
with the inception of Social Education studies: its collection grew when
the Library acquired the materials needed for these university studies.
The process of computerising the catalogue was undertaken at the same
time and finally, it moved to its current site on carrer Carolines. ICESB
and the PTF Library merged in 2001, when part of the former’s activities
was integrated into the Training Institute’s action framework. The
Library collection currently has close to 60,000 books and 1,000 different
national and international magazines.
