To promote individuals through leisure education
and social action based on the values in the Gospel.
Mission elements
 |
Individuals are ends in themselves in the
PTF’s set of ideals and can never be used as mere means.
The PTF’s ultimate mission concerns the wide range of
aspects that contribute to full individual development in dignity
and in all dimensions. |
 |
Social action with groups with specific needs
or disadvantaged groups and community development promotion
can only serve individuals and their growth if they incorporate
the educational dimension and are used as settings for values
education. |
 |
The importance of social contexts, in addition
to school contexts, in building a young person’s personality,
has led the PTF to choose leisure as a privileged framework
wherein to promote values education. |
 |
Education helps people develop themselves
fully, which is why the PTF’s mission can be found within
the framework of education. All PTF actions, be they training,
social, cultural...have a clearly educational dimension in their
means and purposes. |
 |
The PTF regards education as the transmission
of values which supports individual growth. The evangelical
principles and values derived therefrom which are expressed
in the PTF’s set of ideals clearly define the mission’s
educational content. |
Values that guide the Foundation’s actions
 |
Jesus Christ and his liberating proposal formulated
in the Gospels. |
 |
Its specific educational, training and social
action mission as a means of transforming society and accompanying
individual growth. |
 |
Its open Catalan identity, which leads it to
work through respect and enrichment with other social and cultural
realties. |
 |
The awareness of forming part of a civil society
and a group of not-for-profit entities (associations, foundations
and NGOs) which strive to promote individuals and work in the
general interest. |
Based on these principles, the Pere Tarrés
Foundation defends the dignity of human beings and their responsible,
singular and unique character, open to ‘the other’,
to transcendence and to the relationship with God. The Foundation
embraces the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention
on the Rights of Children.
The fundamental values of love, freedom, truth, justice and peace
are affirmed through this concept of the individual. Furthermore,
the Foundation is committed to integrating and educating individuals
in these values, together with respect, personal autonomy, austerity,
rigour, an attitude of service and responsibility.
Moreover, society, politics and the economy must serve individuals.
We strive to promote participation, dialogue and social harmony,
the primacy of civil society, the social market economy, solidarity
and volunteerism, social and peoples’ rights as well as ecological
awareness to make that possible.
The explicit expression of these values in its set of ideals serves
to reaffirm the Pere Tarrés Foundation’s commitment
to the Church of which it forms part and the society which it seeks
to serve.
