The PTF is open to society as a whole. It originally promoted leisure education for children and young people, but has opened up to many other areas in on-going education.
The basic principles which characterise the PTF are:

	Its social, cultural and educational mission.
	Its roots in and commitment to the Catalan language and culture and inter-cultural dialogue.

With these principles as a starting point, the values which the PTF endeavours to base its actions on are love, freedom, truth, justice and peace. The entity values participation, dialogue and social harmony and defends the primacy of civil society, the social market economy, solidarity, volunteerism, human rights and ecological awareness.
