Throughout the 50 years of its history, the Pere
Tarrés Foundation has sought to adapt to society’s
characteristics by directing innovative projects, which is why it
created the New Technologies at the Service of Education area in
response to a series of needs related to the use of information
and communication technologies by the different educational agents
in our country.
The growing use of new technologies by children
and adolescents combined with their gift for them makes new technologies
a novel and privileged channel for any educational intervention
project. A range of businesses, public administrations and citizen
organisations have opened themselves to the world of new technologies
in recent times, in order to provide services for or transmit content
to children, adolescents and young people. The Pere Tarrés
Foundation places the new technologies for education services at
their disposal.
Objectives
We endeavour to promote a vision of technology which is useful,
contextualised and close to individuals. The following operational
objectives have been proposed to fulfil that objective:
 |
To fight against the digital divide that exists
between individuals with access to new technologies and those
with limited means. |
 |
To make individuals familiar with the easy
and productive use of new technologies. |
 |
To provide various educational agents with
tools for the proper, appropriate and safe use of new technologies:
parents, teachers, educators... |
 |
To create educational technological applications
for different interest groups. |

web pages endeavour to offer teachers and students high quality
content to promote the use of the web as an educational tool.
Methodology
The Pere Tarrés Foundation’s team of educators

and formulates content on the different subjects covered to
provide valid resources adapted to user levels. The Foundation’s
task consists of formulating and organising portal content.

| Promoting spaces for accessing new
technology |
|

|
Purpose
To make people aware of the possibilities offered by information
and communication technologies, in order to promote their
access to employment.
Educational Objectives
To hold introductory educational workshops on computers and
the Internet to promote knowledge and use among individuals
with limited access to computer facilities. To offer spaces
and computers for free use so that individuals can use them
to carry out assignments, look for employment and access the
Internet.
Methodology
To provide neighbourhoods which are at risk of being left
behind as regards technological progress with fully equipped
computer and Internet access points. These points offer a
space where training, computers and the Internet can be freely
used. All planned activities emphasise individual involvement
in operating the centres and in the educational process. This
process is based on self-teaching and mutual collaboration
between users.
Specific projects
